A young woman stands at a podium, holding a microphone as she speaks. She is wearing a dark t-shirt with the word "Yes" written on it and has long hair. The backdrop, seemingly under a white tent or canopy, hints at an event to support Aboriginal Empowerment in the Central Coast area.

Our Purpose

Barang Regional Alliance Ltd (Barang) is the recognised Central Coast Aboriginal community’s representative voice.

Disadvantage in Aboriginal Communities is widely publicised through ‘Closing the Gap’, we work to address this in the Darkinung Community through various programs and partnerships.

Through the yagunda baranggu, gili-dhi muru, Local Decision-Making and Empowered Communities programs, Barang supports improved outcomes for the local Aboriginal Community in early childhood development, youth empowerment, employment, health and across various other socioeconomic indicators.

We understand and collaborate with our community to advocate for their needs in partnership with all levels of government and other key stakeholders to reform the ways that Indigenous policies and programs are designed and delivered on Darkinung Country.

Our Focus

Our focus is to ensure that our community has greater influence and control over the decisions that impact their lives.
We are working with all levels of Government to advocate for structural reform – moving from a control to empowerment governance model ensuring our community can develop socially, culturally and economically.
